And That's Show Biz..

The 2019 Capstone show is officially over. After months of hard work, the day of the show ended up going by fairly quickly. At times it felt like a movie, everything was quick paced and chaotic, while some moments felt like slow-motion. As stressful as some moments were, I really loved being a part of the production for this show.

Here's a look at what the day was like for me.

8:00am, going to the school to print off model contract forms, photo release forms, and the hair and makeup assignments.
8:45am, picking up a model because it's important to show that you care about them! They are donating their time to be there for YOU.
9:30am, arriving at Paul-Mitchell The School to begin hair and makeup.
I would like to note that hair and makeup were originally scheduled to go from 9:30am-1:30pm but as things go, it didn't pan out that way. This process took a bit longer than expected which delayed our rehearsal time by an hour, but it all ended up working out anyways.
3:00pm, all but 3 models have gotten hair and makeup done, so I head to the Goei Center to start rehearsals
3:30pm, rehearsals begin. Because of the complex floorplan, it started out a bit rough for models. Also, there was a lot of confusion with the lineup, as we had some models dropped and the list was not thoroughly prepared like I would have liked it to be.
6:00pm, I began to dress models and assisted them in any way that I could. Also, let certain models know that they would be walking twice.
7:15pm, begin show lineup and bring extra garment backstage for the quick change.
7:30pm, Showtime. as Maria is giving the introduction I had an underclassmen designer come up to me with a last-minute garment that she wanted in the show. It was promised by someone else that this would be okay. I chose a model that was willing to make a fast change and we had to pull off the quickest wardrobe change in the world. (that may be a bit dramatic but you get my point)
8:00pm (I think), Joy models are back in the dressing room and start to get undressed and return garments. I instructed helpers to start hanging things as I began to tag each garment making sure it was accounted for. After things were tagged they were ready to be bagged. This was done in about 20 minutes and I got a moment to breathe as the senior's capstone collection began.
9:00pm the show was over and I was finished with my duties, I asked other people if they needed any help before I left to socialize.

Overall, this was a gratifying experience. It's interesting too that the people watching don't see the stress and hard work that TRULY goes into these shows. As I have been a model in the past I have witnessed the stress, but you really don't get it until you're on the team putting it all together.
I'm super proud of the six of us for pulling it off.

Unfortunately, I do not have any photos from the show because I was so busy running around and tending to everything that needed to be done. Just trust me when I say it was good.
